Having come 3rd in the first round of the legislative elections in the 1st constituency of the Alpes-Maritimes, Craig Monetti has chosen to remain. The Ensemble candidate does not want to “let the people of Nice choose between LFI and the RN” and is calling on Olivier Salerno (New Popular Front) to withdraw.

“I believe that I am the only one capable of embodying the unity, the surpassing that can lead to defeating the extreme right.” Invited to BFM Nice Côte d’Azur this Monday, July 1, Graig Monetti confirmed that he would remain in the second round following the results of the first round of the legislative elections. The Ensemble candidate came 3rd (22.79%) in the 1st constituency of the Alpes-Maritimes in the first round of the legislative elections.

“I believe that the score we achieved yesterday evening and the 11,588 voters who trusted me oblige me. They did not vote for me yesterday for me to withdraw today,” continued Monetti, who came in far behind the president of LR allied to the National Rally Éric Ciotti (41.04%) and just behind the candidate of the New Popular Front Olivier Salerno (26.62%).

“We must be alike, I would like to thank the LR candidate and the environmentalist candidate who called for a vote for me and who are forcing me to represent 31% of the vote by adding each one together,” he continued on BFM Nice Côte d’Azur.

“Do not choose between LFI and the RN”

The presidential majority candidate does not, however, wish to align himself with Olivier Salerno to beat the RN, on the contrary. “If Mr. Salerno really wants Mr. Ciotti to lose the election, I ask him again: withdraw,” Monetti calls.

“If I had the opportunity to face a socialist, democratic, environmentalist or even communist candidate, I would have withdrawn,” assures Craig Mnetti.

“The way things are going, the proposals that are being made, the hundreds of threats that I am receiving, this inability of Mr Salerno to provide answers to those who voted for me, oblige me,” continues the 31-year-old politician who should therefore participate in a three-way race in the constituency where Eric Ciotti is the favourite.

“I cannot allow the people of Nice to choose between LFI and the RN,” insists Craig Monetti.
