Friday evening (June 28) at 11 p.m., tropical depression No. 2 is classified by the NHC (National Hurricane Center in Florida, USA), as tropical storm Beryl. The phenomenon could become a hurricane before arriving in the Lesser Antilles early next week.

The phenomenon monitored for several days by the French and American services confirms its potential.

Tropical Depression No. 2 (DT2) becomes Tropical Storm Beryl on Friday evening (June 28) and is expected to reach “hurricane stage before transiting the Lesser Antilles” say the specialists.

Numerical weather prediction models predict the passage of the disturbance over the Lesser Antilles with the following characteristics:

*A passage as close as possible to the center during the day from Monday July 1st or even early night from Monday 1st to Tuesday July 2nd. *A central passage on the Lesser Antilles, between Tobago for the southernmost island and Martinique for the northernmost island. *A transition of the system to category 1 to 2 hurricane stage. *A rapid movement of the system. Given the time frame, these forecasts are associated with significant uncertainty. These forecasts will further evolve and be refined with the updating of forecast data.
