Dakar, June 29 (APS) – The President of the National Assembly, Amadou Mame Diop indicated on Saturday that all the actions of the institution he heads are always backed by the principles and provisions set by the Constitution, referring in particular to separation and the balance of powers.

“All actions of the National Assembly are always backed by the principles and provisions set by the Constitution, particularly with regard to the separation and balance of powers as well as the scope of competence, (…) whatever the context and the issues,” he said.

Speaking at the close of the 2023-2024 single session of the National Assembly, Amadou Mame Diop welcomed a “particularly rich” legislature, due in particular to “the material and texts examined”.

He also magnified the “major role” of parliament during the presidential election, thus allowing Senegal to confirm “its rank as leader and example in terms of democracy and the rule of law”.

“The upcoming examination of the 2025 finance bill will, without a doubt, offer another opportunity for the national representation to once again bring forward the concerns of our populations with a view to their optimal consideration,” he continued.

Coming to represent the government during this session, the Minister of Labor, Employment and Relations with Institutions, Yankhoba Diémé expressed the “availability” of his department to play the role of one of “the best traits of union for the proper functioning of institutions”.
