On the occasion of the celebration of the 50th anniversary in the service of human rights, the theme of which is “Environment and security: two challenges for the protection of the rights of women and children”, the Amicale des juristes du Senegal (AJS) takes stock. According to the president, 68,868 files were processed concerning cases of rape and violence.

This fiftieth anniversary represents years of constant struggle of eminent women jurists, engaged with motivation and determination in the promotion, protection and popularization of human rights, in particular those of women and children, thus achieving concrete results, declared this Saturday, during a face to face meeting with the press, Aminta Sow Fall.

The president informs that since 2008, with the opening of the first AJS law boutique and the establishment of the green line in 2012, more than 68,868 files have been received and processed there.

According to the president of the AJS, of these 68,868 cases, 87% concern women and 13% men. These are cases of recorded violence, of which 32% relate to physical violence, 16% to psychological and moral violence, 25% to economic violence and 27% to sexual violence.

The AJS also adds that these 50 years of existence are marked by an unparalleled experience in terms of advocacy, awareness-raising, training, information and communication activities on human rights, with more than 70 projects implemented, which has made it possible to exchange with more than 400 parliamentarians from 10 legislatures, 300 legal actors, and 100,000 people made aware or trained.
