A week after lifting the Stanley Cup with the Panthers, defenseman Brandon Montour will continue his career with the Seattle Kraken.

The two parties agreed to terms of a seven-year contract worth $50 million.

Montour will pocket an average salary of 7.14 million.

The 30-year-old defenseman spent the last three full seasons at Sunrise, where he signed a three-year contract averaging $3.5 million annually.

Stephenson also in Seattle

Later in the day, the Kraken signed 30-year-old center Chandler Stephenson to a seven-year contract.

His salary would be around $6.25 million per season, a significant salary increase since he received an average of $2.75 million per season during his last contract.

The veteran spent the last five seasons of his career with the Vegas Golden Knights, with whom he collected 16 goals and 51 points in 75 duels last season.

Stanley Cup champion in 2018 with the Washington Capitals and in 2023 with Vegas, Stephenson has played 495 games in the NHL. He has 89 goals and 270 points.

He had two seasons of 60+ points in the NHL, in 2021-2022 and 2022-2023.
