Paris 2024 Olympic Games are fast approaching. As we await the opening ceremony that will kick off the most anticipated sporting event of the year, the Olympic flame crosses the different French regions. On June 18, she was expected with fanfare at Monaco.

Six famous torchbearers Monegasques were responsible for wearing it: the Formula 1 champion Charles Leclerc, the skier Alexandra Coletti, the table tennis player Xiaoxin Yang, the bobsleigh pilot, Rudy Rinaldi and Prince Albert II who, as a reminder, was the flag bearer of the Monegasque delegation at the Winter Olympics in Calgary (1988), Albertville (1992) and Lillehammer (1994).

29 days before the start of the competition and a few weeks after the passage of the flame over the Rock,
Charlene and Albert of Monaco attended another highlight of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. The couple met at the Yacht Club de Monaco to attend the official presentation of the Monegasque athletes on June 27th.

The surprise was big last Thursday. Those who were once high-level athletes have shown themselves to be more complicit than ever, together, facing the cameras. Both wore outfits matching the colors of the Monegasque flag. No fashion faux pas on the horizon!

Why are Charlene and Albert of Monaco so keen on the Olympics?

The most famous of the Monegasque couples does not consider missing the Paris Olympics for a second. My family’s story and that of my relationship with Princess Charlène are obviously related to the Games. I will be there for those in Paris and, with the princess, we will go and encourage the athletes of the principality and follow swimming competitions and athleticsAlbert II explained to Paris Matchin 2006.

The monarch has indeed participated five timesand consecutively, at the Winter Olympic Games as a pilot of the Monaco bobsleigh team, between 1988 and 2002. His grandfather, John Kelly (Sr) was a triple rowing gold medalist at the 1920 and 1924 Olympic Games; his uncle, winner of the bronze medal at the 1956 Summer Olympics.
