The desire to party and a lot of good humor marked this extraordinary event. The curtain fell on the 156th edition of the Jean de la Fontaine celebrations, the flagship and poetic event of the city of Château-Thierry and the department of Aisne.
The sky was favorable to this masterful meeting which attracts to this part of Hauts-de-France thousands of visitors and French and foreign tourists. This year’s holiday theme was the sport.
With the Beatles!
As usual, the famous Jean de La Fontaine Festivals started on Friday June 21 in the evening, with the Music Festival and the concert given in the open air around the Beau Richard fountain, in the city center, by the musicians of the Musical Union. On Saturday evening, the crowd packed at the foot of the town hall had the impression of relive with the Beatles ! Launched by a variety concert from the 70s to the present day by Art Trio, the Amiens group the Rabeats-Best of the Beatles has more than fulfilled its contract by reviving the famous boys in the wind and their immense successes before the dance party hosted by DJ Max ends this timeless night.
Floats and bands
The next day, the spectacle was in the streets of the city with floats and brass bands. The immense corso bringing together 500 participants satisfied a considerable crowd gathered all along the route and on the Marne bridge. We recognized the elected costumed castles surrounding the famous fabulist in his carriage and busy greeting the inhabitants of the city of fables.
Please note, the new feature this year is a large festive area with catering and refreshments with music set up on the town hall square.
Concluding these moments of madness, Sébastien Eugène, master and departmental advisor, declared on social networks: “The success of the Jean de La Fontaine Festival is as great as ever. For more than 150 years, they have brought together the Castels and the inhabitants of the south of Aisne around a festive and friendly moment, whatever their age, social background or origins. In a tense national context, we need these moments of unity. »
These grandiose celebrations have regained their former glory with an atmosphere that has never faded and which, during these three days, has enhanced its undeniable success.
