One of the victims whose vital prognosis was in jeopardy on Sunday, after a shooting during a wedding in Thionville (Moselle), died, bringing the toll to two dead and four injured, said Monday the Jirs of Nancy, in charge of the investigation which focuses on organized crime.
During the night from Saturday to Sunday, around 1:00 a.m., four people who were attending a reception given for a wedding were shot. Two of them died from their injuries.
“For two other victims, initially hospitalized in a state of absolute emergency, the vital prognosis is no longer engaged.“, specified Vincent Légaut, deputy prosecutor in Nancy, in a press release.
Two other people also suffered minor injuries, due in particular to shards of glass, indicated the Specialized Interregional Jurisdiction (Jirs) of Nancy, which opened an investigation to “organized murder and attempted organized murder“.
The incident took place at the Eden Palace, a reception hall specializing in weddings in a commercial area of Thionville. Around a hundred guests were present, who came, according to Thionville Mayor Pierre Cuny, from the Metz metropolitan area.
“Three heavily armed, hooded men dressed in black appeared at the entrance to the venue and shot people outside.“, explained the court on Sunday, referring to “several dozen rounds of ammunition” drawn.
