Our Pas-de-Calais residents have talent! At only 23 years old, Emma Boutoillenative Calaishas had extraordinary experiences. Stylist for Miss France, dresser at Disney… The young woman is pursuing her dreams and has no intention of stopping there. We present to you her crazy success-story.

Miss France 2024 dress created by Emma

Emma fell into the world of fashion at a very young age. “When I was little, my first drawings were fashion drawings. I was always destined for that,” she assures. After obtaining her baccalaureate in Calais, Emma arrived in Roubaix for her higher education and obtained a BTS in fashion, textile and environmental design.

“The two years were difficult and I wondered if I would continue in this field,” she recalls. The young woman was going to redirect herself towards journalism but was finally accepted in Lille in fashion design and model making.

During her studies, Emma was able to create her first collection, the shooting of which took place at Nausicaa. A real turning point in his life. “It was decisive because the aquarium called me back to organize a parade there on the occasion of Pink October. » Everything came together after that.

The Calaisienne took part in a competition in order to design the Miss Nord – Pas-de-Calais costume. “I thought about it all summer, did quite a bit of research and sent in my application in September last year. The results were revealed in October and I presented the dress to Nausicaa,” she explains.

Emma was able to meet Eve Gilles. “The fittings went well as did the shooting in Calais. » The young designer wanted to pay homage to her origins by mixing Calais lace and mussel shells into this dress.

Emma’s creation was chosen and Eve Gilles then became Miss France 2024. A consecration for the Calaisienne: “I had participated in the Miss competitions a few years previously. The circle was complete, it was a real source of pride,” she rejoices.

A dream: to become a costume designer at Disneyland

The famous dress was then exhibited at the Cité de lalace in Calais. “All my little girl’s dreams came true one by one. Each time I said to myself ‘how can we raise the bar?’ » Emma quickly found the answer… A few weeks ago, the stylist became dresser at Disneyland Paris. “I was looking for a job and the opportunity presented itself. I didn’t hesitate to seize it because I’ve been a Disney fan since I was little.”

But what does his “dream job” consist of? “I am as close as possible to the characters, I take care of them before they leave to meet the guests of the park. I dress them before the parade, I take care of the costumes and make alterations if necessary,” she explains.

At 23, Emma continues to have ambitions and is not resting on her laurels. “Now my goal is to become a costume designer at Disneyland. The positions are very limited, I have just arrived and I must first discover the environment. »

She nevertheless savors all these moments spent with Mickey and Minnie. “You have to stay down to earth but that doesn’t take away from the magic, I always manage to find wonder somewhere. Several times during the day, I say to myself ‘what is this dream job?’ », she laughs.
