Certainly, François Ruffin comes in second position (with 33.92%) behind the RN (with 40.69%) in its constituency of Somme.

But the outgoing MP can see in these figures positive signals to keep his seat despite an unfavorable ballot position in the second round on July 7.

A weaker RN wave and a higher left

The presidential majority candidate Albane Branlant, who had won 22.68%, announced that she was withdrawing to avoid an absolute majority for the RN in the National Assembly.

On the evening of this first round, François Ruffin could boast of having “stemmed this wave in the first constituency” with 5 points less than in the European elections for the National gathering while the left shows 10 points more.

For the outgoing MP, the calculation is simple: “We have 4 points to improve against the RN, we have one week to scrape them. We have five days to guard this constituency. » The candidate of the new popular front could also count on the 20 reserve points of the Macronist and centrist candidates.

François Ruffin also launched an appeal “to block the RN”: I invite all left-wing candidates who find themselves in 3rd position to withdraw so that there is no absolute majority tomorrow for the Rally national in the Assembly. »

“I am counting on the Macronists, on Gabriel Attalon the President of the Republic so that we get out of this story the right way. So that they do not open the door to the worst, but that they allow a path of hope to reopen for the country. They have brutalized the country a lot. We would not be here if the yellow vest crisis had not been handled in this way. We would not be here if there had not been a forced passage on pensions last year.

“Today it is about appeasing the country, reconciling it, governing with tenderness whatever the government of tomorrow, governing with a form of affection for the French without looking down on them, without crushing them . »
