In view of the exceptional weather forecasts, the Municipal Council took the decision to ban the day and evening of the Abbey for security reasons. On the other hand, the procession is maintained.

The exceptional weather situation announced by Météo Suisse (thunderstorms / danger level 4) for the day and evening of this Saturday forces the Municipal Council to prohibit the first day of the Fleurier Abbey. The security risks are too great to allow this public event to continue on that day.

On the other hand, the procession which starts around 2:30 p.m. and lasts an hour should take place. If the situation were to deteriorate rapidly, the Municipal Council will be able to take new decisions early in the afternoon.

If all goes well, the last two days (Sunday and Monday) of the Abbey should take place normally on Place Longereuse and Rue de la Place d’Armes from noon on Sunday.

Here are the recommendations from MétéoSuisse on the behavior to adopt during this period:

  • If you are planning outdoor activities, plan for protection and alternate routes.
  • Protect outdoor objects (e.g. flower pots, garden furniture) from wind and hail, and roll up blinds.
  • Unplug electrical devices (e.g. TV, computer) to protect them from power surges.
  • Avoid bodies of water and places exposed to lightning such as ridges, proximity to trees, pylons and towers, and open areas
