JAKARTA – PT Kereta Commuter Indonesia (KCI) or KAI Commuter increases the number of trains imported from a Chinese company, CRRC Sifang Co., Ltd, to eight units. This addition is made due to an urgent need.
For your information, previously, KAI Commuter imported three new train units from CRRC Sifang. In this way, the number of cotton strip country trains ordered by KAI Commuter became a total of 11 units.
KAI Commuter Secretary General Anne Purba explained that the addition of importing new trains from China was done because it had cancelled the rejuvenation of 19 train series with the red plate company.
“The retirement, it is true, has changed, from 19 to 2 from INKA, so we see that it becomes 8 new (imports). The details (of the reasons for cancellation) you must ask from INKA,” said Anne when met at the House of Representatives building, Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Monday, July 1.
Therefore, said Anne, KAI Commuter also decided to add 8 sets of new trains imported from CRRC Sifang. The reason is that the company considers the accuracy of delivery time and the costs that need to be spent.
“Because, well, there is once the necessary technical data is completed, left to production,” he said.
Another reason for the imports from China, Anne said, was that KAI Commuter had designed the train specifications in detail according to its previous orders.
If you chose a different company, Anne says the costs will be re-expensed.
“Maybe there’s something like that, why it ended up coming from just one country.” The design of the car, we design it for a year, if we take a different manufacturing again, we will design it again,” he said.
Anne confirmed that she had signed a contract with CRRC Sifang.
However, Anne said she first needed to verify the data to be able to detail the costs.
