Around fifty young people and a dozen volunteer supervisors from the Groupe des Scouts et Guides de France d’Albi were welcomed to Castelnau-de-Lévis by the association Sauvegarde du Château for a visit to the historic village. “We organize a group day once or twice a year that brings together all the young people from six to eighteen years old,” explains Jeanne, one of the organizers. “And for this edition, we were looking for a nature outing in a heritage site up high.”

The morning was devoted, in partnership with two speakers from the LPO, to an approach to the particularly rich fauna and flora on the banks of the Tarn (herons, kites, jackdaws and bee-eaters with richly colored livery). A popular birdwatching walk, illustrated by multiple games on the knowledge of birds, plants and biodiversity. After a welcome stop at the Moulines footbridge for a comforting picnic at midday, the troops were ready to visit the city. Two groups, from the little ones to the scouts, pioneers and companions for the older ones, set off to discover the local heritage, washhouses, dovecotes, half-timbered houses, then a guided tour of the historic village and its castle. Another refreshing break at the end of the visit in a pretty green corner before starting the fun part of this end of the day. On the program: a big fancy dress game and a choreography workshop on the theme of the Middle Ages, discovery of old vegetables, shabada (song game), beret game, Chinese whispers, etc. A great day in keeping with the values of team life and commitment of the young companions of the scout movement!
