Bird Hill celebrates its 30th anniversary

To celebrate the 30th anniversary of Bird Hill, a large number of free activities are planned. The festivities will begin at 10 a.m. with the inauguration of the Frank-Duncombe Esplanade, followed by the inauguration of the inclusive playground “Le Jardin Extra Ordinaire” and tours of the redeveloped Bird Hill.

Also on the programme: the christening of the Yvonne Guégan rose and the announcement of the public’s favourite rose, demonstrations by the Caen-Ouistreham Regatta Society on the Roseraie basin, as well as musical interludes.

Saturday June 28, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., at the Colline aux oiseaux, in Caen.

La Guérinière in celebration

This Saturday, the La Guérinière district is celebrating the end of the cultural action project “Guérinière, territory of puppets” as well as the launch of “My summer district”.

On the day’s program: poetry, history and puppets at the Reine-Mathilde nursing home (10:30 a.m.); restitution of the “puppet” project of the neighborhood structures at the MJC of La Guérinière (2:30 p.m.) and from 3 p.m., Place Sully: reading, board games, stories for naughty children, puppet flash mob… and other surprises!

Concert D-Day

The SMN harmony performs at La Renaissance, for an event concert as part of the commemorations of the 80e anniversary of the D-Day landings and the Battle of Normandy. The SMN harmony offers a musical tribute to the heroes of D-DAY, “between emotion and swing tunes”.

Exposition

As part of the Normandy Impressionist festival, Atlas Normandie presents the work of Nelly Monnier and Éric Tabuchi, designed around a residence in the region. Photographers and visual artists, the two artists combined their practices to begin the ARN (Atlas of Natural Regions) project in 2017, with the mission of photographing 450 natural regions of France. The result of their work is exhibited at the Artothèque, contemporary art spaces.

From Saturday June 29 to Saturday October 26, exhibition at the Artothèque, impasse Duc-Rollon, in Caen. This Saturday, at 5 p.m., meeting with Nelly Monnier and Éric Tabuchi around the exhibition; at 6 p.m., opening.

Music and reading at the library

The Alexis-de-Tocqueville library is organizing an “Olympic reading” which combines sports and literature through an anthology of texts from 1900 to the present day, served by a couple of tellers and an accordionist. “A show that mixes Olympic destinies, stress and glitter, beauty of gesture, irony of old learning manuals and popular songs from Fréhel to Nougaro”announce the organizers.

Chosen authors: Lola Lafon, François Bégaudeau, Jean-Bernard Pouy, Jean Echenoz, Philippe Delerm, Gustave Flaubert, Marcel Proust, Jerome Charyn, Thierry Frémaux, Henry Claremont.

Show by the Atelier du Vaugueux

The Vaugueux workshop, a piano school created by Emilie Sanzey, works in artistic collaboration with Noëlle Verelle, classical dance teacher at the Caen Conservatory and Orchestra, and with Marie Landon, author of “Marijentenpa”, who taught sign language to children.

The workshop has always welcomed children with and without disabilities, in order to promote equal opportunities for all in music, in artistic learning, and in access to culture.

An inclusive show will bring together around sixty young people around the piano: students from the Atelier, children from the IME Elie-de-Beaumont, students from Noëlle Verelle and modern dance dancers from the Marie-Laurence school.

The Children’s Castle, in Bénouville

The Department invites families to the Château de Bénouville, to enjoy activities around the Olympics and the values ​​of sport.
