Licra ROANNE: Joseph Kott Awards Ceremony – Licra

On Wednesday afternoon at the sub-prefecture, our LICRA section of Roannais awarded the Joseph Kott prize to 3 classes who presented their work on the theme of commitment: the 5th 1 and 5th 2 classes of the Albert Thomas Roanne college, and the 3rd 1 class for the Etines college in Coteau.

The students were accompanied by their history-geography and civic and moral education teachers. The students created games on discrimination and on resistant women as well as podcasts on the life of Joseph Kott, who saved many Jews and who became involved in the resistance.

Nathalie Kott-Watchel, granddaughter of the great Resistance fighter, congratulated the students: “By seeking to understand and transmit history, you are giving yourselves the means to become adults who will not be fooled by fake news, by the rewriting of history and by those who say that the Holocaust did not exist or who minimize its gravity. You play an important role. Be vigilant, stay informed. As you have shown today, you have the power to do great things.”
Each class received a check and the book that recounts the testimony of Céline Koplewicz, a child hidden in Roanne during the war. Present at the ceremony, Céline signed the books for each student.

This ceremony ended with a souvenir photo and a glass of friendship.
