Can the National Rally make the three pass west of the Somme, during the early legislative elections June 30 and July 7?

On paper, the results of the European elections at the beginning of June seem to announce it, so much Jordan Bardella’s list has been a hit everywhere.

The RN favorite on paper, but…

Yet, many uncertainties remain, three weeks after the surprise dissolution of the National Assembly, and as the accelerated campaign draws to a close.

Several visions of society are opposed to it, and rarely has the issue of a vote seemed so crucial for the future of France.

Will the dynamic of Europeans benefit the far-right party? Will this dynamic be thwarted by the new Popular Front, whose mere existence already defies all predictions? And what about the Macronist candidates?

François Ruffin, major figure of the new popular front

The first constituency of the Somme (between Abbeville and Amiens) will be particularly scrutinized. Because it is that, since 2017, of François Ruffin, a major figure of this Popular Front.

The spokesperson for Picardy Standing was easily re-elected in 2022 in a territory which, however, had overwhelmingly voted for Marine Le Pen a few weeks earlier, during the presidential election.

Towards a Ruffin / Ribeiro “return match”?

With a national stature that continues to grow, and his name circulating among possible prime ministers, François Ruffin is playing big.

Facing him, Nathalie Ribeiro Billet, the RN candidate from Ailly-le-Haut-Clocherintends to take her revenge in 2022, when she was soundly beaten by the outgoing MP.

Three other candidates to beat the odds

Macronist sideAlbane Branlant has already been a candidate in 2022… but in the third constituency, that of Vimeu where she comes from, but where Renaissance has decided not to present a candidate against Emmanuel Maquet.

As for Bruno Dumont, for Centrist Alliancehe is a newcomer in politics. He is also unknown to the general public, at least outside of Abbeville where he is a trader.

Finally, Workers’ Struggle, which is not part of the Popular Front, has decided to present candidates in all the constituencies of the Somme. As in 2022, it was Jean-Patrick Baudry who was invested in the first.
