It’s the week-endthe ideal time to treat yourself to a little outing in Caen (Calvados) or in the city! Exhibitions, evenings, entertainment… Here are some ideas to get you moving, from June 28 to 30, 2024.

Return to the bistros!

It hasn’t taken place since 2019… Running which doesn’t take itself seriously will finally make its return to the city center of Caen!
After being canceled at the last minute last year, the Foulées des bistrots will take place this Friday, June 28. Registrations have been closed for a long time, but it is a spectacle in itself to observe the passage of 800 disguised runnersespecially when they cross the mythical Café des Quatrans.

The Vaugueux district is celebrating!

Le Vaugueux has regained its shine! After a long period of necessary renovation work, this emblematic district of Caen is ready to welcome you.
The city and the merchants are organizing a big end-of-construction party this Friday. On the program: a concert by Celest on the Bayou and cider-based cocktails created for the occasion.

The Joséphine Baker exhibition in Caen

In partnership with Paris-Match, the City of Caen is presenting a unique exhibition retracing the life of Joséphine Baker. This militant and daring artist was also a resistance fighter and mother of a large family.
It allows you to discover or rediscover the journey of this major figure of the last century, through a selection of around thirty archive photos.

Visit the Chapel of the Good Saviour

As part of the 80th anniversary of the Liberation of Caen, the mission to promote the heritage of the City of Caen offers you an exceptional visit of the Good Savior.
In June and July 1944, this chapel was transformed into a reception center by the Passive Defense. Here we invite you to “retrace the route taken by the rescue teams from the Abbaye-aux-Hommes to Bon Sauveur”.

An evening to celebrate summer in Carpiquet

The Summer Festival returns to Carpiquet this Saturday, June 29. This free evening will be an opportunity to celebrate the return of sunny daysthe end of exams, vacations and getting together with friends and family.
In the program : Tribute to Balavoine, Hadagio (photo) and a DJ set ofAzka to end the day in style.

The history of the Place de la République

In 2021, archaeologists excavated the ruins of the old Town Hall of Caen, then located on Place de la République, destroyed in 1944. These excavations inspired the exhibition From Place Royale to Place de la République.
It invites you to discover the metamorphoses of this district of Caen from 1575 to 1975, and draws up the portrait of a city “in perpetual change”.

St-Jean lights in Ouistreham

On Saturday, Ouistreham celebrates Saint-Jean. The municipality invites you to share a big festive evening, with friends or family.
On the program: the traditional Midsummer bonfires, but also a great karaoke to show off your singing talents in a friendly atmosphere. It promises !

The Dawn of the American Century at the Memorial

To honor these freedom fighters, on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings, the Caen Memorial proposes to tell the story of the America in which they grew up.
From 1919 to 1944, This exhibition explores a cultural, social and political history, that of the American peoplefrom the triumphant return of soldiers after the First World War to the landing on the French beaches on June 6, 1944.

The Children’s Castle in Bénouville

The Children’s Castle is back this Sunday, in Bénouville. On this occasion, the Department of Calvados will have the joy of welcoming children under 10 years old and their parents free of charge for a day of “awakening and adventures, discoveries and initiations, activities, shows and games”.
From 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., more than 80 free activities and workshops will be on the program in the 15 villages developed by departmental agents.
