The outgoing rebellious MP, Sébastien Delogu, created controversy by sharing on social networks a campaign clip, since deleted, featuring a fight between members of the New Popular Front and the other parties.
New controversy for the outgoing MP. Insoumis Sébastien Delogu, who had already distinguished himself by brandishing a Palestinian flag in the National Assembly, aroused indignation with his new campaign clip.
The candidate for his re-election in the 7th constituency of Bouches-du-Rhône used the 2020 promotion clip for the video game “League of Legend”, adding the heads of certain members of the left alliance and members of the National Rally, of the majority and the Republicans on the characters.
Thus, Sébastien Delogu represented himself alongside Mathilde Panot, Rima Hassan, Louis Boyard, Manon Aubry, Jean-Luc Mélenchon, Clémentine Autain, Olivier Faure, Philippe Poutou and François Ruffin in the “heroes” camp. The latter facing Emmanuel Macron, Jordan Bardella, Meyer Habib, Sarah Knafo and Laurent Jacobelli in the camp of the “bad guys” and waging a victorious battle.
Among the notable absentees are Raphaël Glucksmann and Julien Guedj, who opposed the left-wing alliance.
The video caused a lot of reaction and was notably accused of being anti-Semitic. Indeed, the character of the outgoing LR deputy, Meyer Habib, of Jewish faith, was represented in the form of a giant spider. In the video, he is “finished” by the new MEP, Rima Hassan, fervent support of pro-Palestinian movements
In addition, the character of Louis Boyard, represented as an archer, draws his bow, making a pizza cooked in the oven appear to target Sarah Knafo, also Jewish.
Images which shocked Internet users, who saw in this pizza a reference to Nazi extermination camps and the ovens used to burn bodies. “The message is clear: ‘Hello, anti-Semites, La France Insoumise does not forget you’,” wrote one of them. Another is indignant and hopes “that the French have realized that voting for the new front means voting for anti-Semites and for Islamism.”
This image of a baked pizza was later replaced by the outgoing MP, who deleted the video and reposted it with an image of a kebab pizza. According to some Internet users, the pizza referred to those ordered during left-wing party negotiations.
Targeted in this video montage, Meyer Habib reacted on X. The outgoing MP was outraged, declaring: “The anti-Jewish scum LFI Sébastien Delogu is broadcasting an anti-Semitic video montage around the crematorium where I am depicted as a demon and destroyed by Rima Hassan! (…) Obviously I am filing a complaint.”
The video shared on Sébastien Delogu’s Instagram account this Wednesday, June 26, has since been completely deleted by its creator.
