On Thursday, the Dax should start falling, depending on price developments on the futures markets.

On Wednesday, the flagship index closed slightly down at 18,155.24 points. Nervousness linked to the approach of the new elections in France slowed down the German stock market. On Wall Street, the indices ended the session slightly higher. Traders held back from trading ahead of inflation data, which could help draw conclusions about when the US Federal Reserve will decide to change interest rates.

The state of the American economy should be revealed in the afternoon by the final data on American gross domestic product for the first quarter. According to preliminary figures from the Ministry of Commerce, GDP increased by 1.3% on an annual basis between January and March. The economic engine has therefore slowed down significantly. At the end of 2023, GDP had further increased by 3.4% at an annualized rate.

On the corporate side, Nike is in the spotlight. The world’s leading sporting goods manufacturer continues to struggle against the erosion of its market share. Nike will present its results for 2023/24 on Thursday evening. According to analysts, turnover is expected to have stagnated in the fourth quarter.
