The XV des Pierres Dorées finished in third place in the B final of the French Superchallenge. Among the players participating, four U14s from AS Roanne rugby.

Young Roanne rugby players have a bright future ahead of them. After shining at the Orange Challenge last year, four AS Roanne licensees joined the XV of Pierres Dorées: Guilhem Le Rat, Jules Drevet, Soan Marques and Mathéo Mandar. A team bringing together young people from the Loire and Rhône to participate in the French Superchallenge. A competition reserved for U14s.

Three young people in a training center

After passing the first three rounds, the cartel reached the final of group B. Event in which they participated on June 22 and 23, in Ris-Orangis.

In Essonne, the group started the group stages perfectly. The first two meetings were won. First against Côte Sud Landes (18-7) then against Brive (3-0). “That ensured they finished at least in the Top 4,” says Eddy Mandar, ASR XV trainer and father of one of the team members.

The next day, the XV des Pierres Dorées fell in the first match of the day (6-0) against Pau. Ditto for the second (14-0) against Bourgoin. The competition ended on a good note with a final success against Vannes (7-3). This final victory guaranteed them a third place in the end. ” It’s beautiful ! » Pau won the competition ahead of Bourgoin-Jallieu.

From now on, three of the four young people from Roanne will experience new horizons. Next year, two will join the Aurillac training center (Pro D2) and another that of ASM Clermont (Top 14).
