There is a lot of talk about the housing crisis currently raging in Quebec and this difficult situation also affects autistic adults aged 21 and over as well as their loved ones, because the need for long-term adapted housing is always increasing. This is why the Véro & Louis Foundation recently proudly announced the expansion of their first Maison in Quebec, in Varennes, and the arrival of a second Maison that will take root in Victoriaville.

The House located near Saint-Charles Park in Varennes will welcome new residents this fall. This adapted living environment currently houses 16 residents in a safe and stimulating environment. Large common spaces divided into zones allow them to choose their level of social interactions. Residents also benefit from a large courtyard with spaces dedicated to physical activity and relaxation, including a playground, swings, a vegetable garden, a swimming pool and even a spa.

The expansion work which will begin this summer will also offer new living spaces allowing them to welcome their families, develop their culinary skills in an educational kitchen, and participate in stimulating activities in a new room designed for this purpose. New spaces are also planned for the team of professionals who continuously support its residents, thus promoting their autonomy, social integration and development.

Let us point out in this regard that, for two years, residents of Maison Véro & Louis as well as certain speakers have participated in the City of Varennes garage sale. This activity promotes the social inclusion of residents in their community and allows them to come into contact with their neighborhood.

The Foundation recalled that these two announcements were made possible thanks, among other things, to the support of people during the most recent Different Like You campaign, which raised a record amount of $670,400.
