A month of July at home for the Alouettes

Undefeated in four games this season, including three played on the road, the Montreal Alouettes will have the pleasure of playing at home throughout the month of July.

“It’s going to feel good, it’s going to be pleasant,” agrees Quebec marauder Marc-Antoine Dequoy. Traveling is fun, but being able to stay home and have a routine is going to be big.”

“We have important matches coming up, we are going to play [le 6 juillet] against Calgary, then we will play again against Toronto [le 11 juillet]. We will also face [le 25 juillet] Saskatchewan, which is a very good team,” listed Dequoy, noting that the Alouettes will also be entitled to a respite during the seventh week of activities in the Canadian Football League.

While the Alouettes now have the pleasure of seeing their fans a little more often at Percival-Molson Stadium, there is no question of the Montreal club taking it easy and falling into a comfort zone.

“You will never see the current edition of the Alouettes take another club lightly,” insists Dequoy. There were a lot of teams who took us lightly last year and that was their fear.”

One match at a time

Head coach Jason Maas is also looking forward to spending the entire month of July in Montreal, but he is second to none when it comes to emphasizing the importance of preparing adequately for each game on the schedule.

“We know that there are nine matches at home and nine others away during a season. It’s good to spend July at home with three consecutive games, but we’ll take them one at a time, he ruled. We have a lot of work ahead of us, but it remains exciting to play in front of our fans from Montreal and all of Quebec.”

“We now have two games back-to-back at home and that’s a new challenge ahead of us,” quarterback Cody Fajardo said of the next two games scheduled in the space of six days. “To be 4-0 right now, with the schedule we had and three of the four games on the road, it makes me proud of this team, but the work has only just begun.”

After defeating the Argonauts by a score of 30-20 last Friday in Toronto, the Alouettes took advantage of a few days off and must resume training this Tuesday. They are preparing to face the Stampeders on Saturday at Percival-Molson Stadium.
