As part of the financial assistance program aimed at optimizing the network of Quebec ecocenters, sponsored by the Recyc-Québec organization, the MRC des Appalaches in conjunction with the Régie intermunicipale de la region de Thetford announces the opening of a new regional ecocenter located on the site of the intermunicipal management at 3626, boulevard Frontenac Est in Thetford Mines. The inauguration will take place on June 28 from 11 a.m. to noon and the official opening for the population will be on July 2.

Remember that the MRC obtained a grant of $270,000 to establish a network of ecocenters on its territory. The project will also build an ecocenter in the municipality of Adstock and improve the existing one in Disraeli.

The new regional ecocenter replaces the one located on Caouette Street, whose operations will cease on June 28. The new regional service point will allow all materials brought there to be weighed. Employees will control the type of materials collected and ensure their recycling in an ecological manner.

“This new ecocenter is larger and better adapted than the one that was on Caouette Street. It will allow the entire population of the MRC to benefit from a regional service throughout the year,” mentions Marc-Alexandre Brousseau, prefect of the MRC des Appalaches and mayor of the City of Thetford Mines.

For any questions or additional information regarding the ecocenters, please contact Daniel Cyr, responsible for the engineering and environment component at the City of Thetford Mines, at [email protected] or by telephone at 418 335-2981, extension 382.
