Simple passers-by or regulars at the tobacco bar Le Balto, everyone witnessed a scene that was comical to say the least this Monday, November 18 in the center of Vernantes, halfway between Noyant-Villages and Saumur. Around 3 p.m., the trailer of a tractor found itself embedded in the window of the Unifrais supermarket, whose bay windows still bear the logo of its former occupant Super U. Alternating traffic was then set up rue de Saumur while the area is cleared.
Technical failure
According to onlookers who observed the construction site from afar, the vehicle arrived from rue de Dutier and began its turn to the left, rue de Saumur. That's when the axle he was towing broke, causing the trailer to overturn into the window. Fortunately, the supermarket is closed on Mondays. No injuries were reported. On the other hand, the tractor driver was still waiting for a tow truck an hour after the accident. Quite upset, he refused to comment on the facts.
