Four students from La Rochotte in Chaumont win a “School-media” prize after an article on academic flame

Three students from La Rochotte college won a prize in the “Ecole-medias 2023-2024” competition. This title is an honor for the establishment and its three 4th grade students: Abdelraouf Rebai, Clément Noirot and Noé Hebert-Gaunée, who wrote about the academic flame.

Noé Hebert-Gaunée, Abdelraouf Rebai and Clément Noirot are the pride of their parents and La Rochotte college. They won one of the prizes in the “Ecole-medias 2024” competition, organized by the Liaison Center for Education and Information Media (CLEMI) of the Reims academy. The reason ? They wrote an article entitled “For the Flame, La Rochotte lights the fire!” », and published in our columns on Friday June 14.

This article written by six hands recounts the passing of the academic flame through the establishment on Monday March 25. These budding journalists used the resources available, including a camera and tripod loaned by the school to record the video. Then, they used it as support to write their article. “We listened again to the three-minute video that we had made, we took ideas and we transcribed everything,” declare the three middle school students in unison. They are the only Chaumontais to have been selected in the “Ecole-medias 2024” competition with the success that we know of them.

A ceremony took place at the Canopée workshop in Reims on Monday June 24 and it was there that they learned that they had won. They were stressed, “because there were quite a few journalists in the room and also Vincent Stanek, the rector of the Reims academy”, declared Abdelraouf with a smile. They will have learned a lesson according to Clément: “It’s good to be a journalist. The fact of having written this article enriches our vocabulary, we now know how to search for and give information to the reader.” Noé shares the opinions of his classmates: “This will help us for the future, particularly the French baccalaureate. It structures our ideas and our thinking.”

Various gifts won thanks to the article on the academic flame

The article appealed to the jury who decided to reward them with a fifth place in the “College Article” category. They won €30 gift cards and a diploma proudly hung in their newsroom.

Louise Oudjani, professor-librarian at the college, is delighted with the performance of the three middle school students on stage: “They were shy at the beginning, but then they were courageous to speak in front of so many people. »

This victory in the competition opens avenues and who knows that perhaps one day these young people will be journalists?
