During a meeting in Marrakech to take stock of the Executive’s mid-term, C. Benmoussa played the role for which he was chosen. He underlined the importance given by the ministry to the reform of initial teacher training. This initiative, carried out in partnership with universities, aims to make educational science courses more attractive.

The minister specified that “ the number of students enrolled in these courses has quintupled in two years, going from 7,000 to 40,000 todayi”. He also mentioned the improvement in the attractiveness of these sectors thanks to the introduction of additional resources and the creation of internships within educational establishments for students, an opportunity which did not exist before. He added that “ internship allowances, estimated at 1,000 dirhams, are already in place for students“, emphasizing that “itThis training allows them to familiarize themselves with the functioning of educational establishments and facilitates their integration”.

In this regard, the minister said that it is high time to dispel the stereotype according to which teaching is the last choice of students. Indeed, the level of students entering these sectors has increased considerably, with 80% of them having obtained their baccalaureate with honors.

The official revealed that the recruitment process carried out by the ministry, through the annual competition, aims to make these sectors the main recruitment route in the future, insisting that this process is already underway. As he addressed the improvement of teachers’ working conditions, explaining that the implementation of additional resources in classes and continuing training allow teachers to better fulfill their role and have a positive impact on student learning. . “ Taking into account the material situation of teachers and their professional background is also essential. », he assured while noting that these aspects are integrated into the new general status approved by the government last February.

C. Benmoussa affirmed that Morocco has opted for free public school, a decision which contributes to equal opportunities for all citizens. He clarified that “ the State devotes more than 26% of its budget to national education, although this sum remains insufficient compared to needs”, emphasizing the importance of efficiency to maximize the impact on students and their learning. He added that “ 80% of spending goes to salaries, and if the goal of serving citizens is not achieved, all that money will be wastede “. And insisted that the education reform roadmap aims to ensure that allocated resources achieve the expected objectives.
