This Sunday, June 23, the RTS show “Point de vue” welcomed Alioune Ndoye, former minister and mayor of Dakar-Plateau. In a frank and direct interview, the socialist leader did not mince his words, offering a critical look at the current political situation in Senegal.

Returning to the defeat of the Benno Bokk Yakaar coalition in the last presidential election, Ndoye called for introspection rather than the search for scapegoats. “You have to have the humility to see what everyone has not done,” he said, pointing out the oversized egos within the coalition.

The former minister did not spare the new government, describing its recent measures to lower prices as “measures”. According to him, these actions reveal that the new authorities are “caught up by the reality of power”, far from the grandiose campaign promises.

On the financial front, Ndoye vigorously defended the record of the former regime, particularly regarding the management of Covid-19 funds. He called on the new government to focus on solving problems rather than “politics.”

Concerning the fishing sector, which he knows well having been Minister of Maritime Economy, Ndoye contested the idea of widespread mismanagement. While recognizing the existence of problems such as overexploitation, he called for an objective analysis of the situation.

Finally, Alioune Ndoye stressed the importance for the Socialist Party to reorganize and become a party leader again, while remaining open to possible “reunions” with former members.
