Hamilton soon to win again with Mercedes? His boss promises him

It had been a year and a half since Mercedes had won a race, and logically it was the German team’s best driver since the start of the season who ended this long drought. George Russell won his second Formula 1 victory in Austria by taking advantage of the collision between Lando Norris and Max Verstappen.

He was already the one who won the only success of the last two seasons for the brand with the star by winning in Brazil in 2022. Quite logically, this victory went to him, he who has been the spearhead of Mercedes since the start of the season. Alongside him, Lewis Hamilton is in more difficulty, to the point that conspiracy rumors of internal sabotage are flourishing to try to justify the decline in form of the seven-time world champion.

Wolff acknowledges Hamilton’s ‘bad period’

Certainly less flamboyant than last season, the record holder for F1 victories retains the confidence of Toto Wolff, his boss, who does not want to let him go.

“He’s had a bad time,” the Austrian businessman admitted to Sky Sports. “As a racing driver, it can be unsettling if you feel like you’re not able to deliver your best performance in a race. I’ve just seen it now. He needs to go through it. It’s not a situation where he’s suddenly unlearned how to drive. Things have fallen into place. He had a brilliant race in Barcelona, so we just need to delve into that situation and understand it.”

Toto Wolff promises: “We will win a race with him this year”. Strong words from the Mercedes boss who continues to push his driver, despite his upcoming departure for Ferrari at the end of the season. Beaten quite clearly in qualifying (9-2) and in the race (8-3) by George Russell, Lewis Hamilton has his lowest total points after 11 weekends since the start of the scale with the 25-point victory in 2010.
