This summer, the Moroccan national futsal team, under the direction of Hicham Dguig, is preparing for the 2024 World Cup in Uzbekistan.
According to “Maroc Futsal Pro”, the Atlas Lions will play two friendly matches against Afghanistan on July 10 and 13.
They will then face Spain, ranked third in the new FIFA rankings, on August 14 and 17. This choice aims to prepare the team to face opponents with a style of play similar to that of Portugal (for Spain) and Afghanistan (for Tajikistan), encountered during the group stage of the World Cup.
In preparation for the 2024 World Cup, the national futsal team met at the Mohammed VI Football Complex in Maâmora.
The squad includes 23 players, several of whom were active in Morocco’s recent Africa Cup victory.
Participants include Captain Hicham El Mesrar, as well as Bilal Bakkali, Driss Raïs El Fenni, Soufiane Borite, Anas El Ayyane and Soufiane Cherraoui.
In addition to the main team, the B and U19 teams are also training in Maâmora.
