This is a new challenge that we are preparing to take on Kaya Cochet. Well known to Hamin the Plaine du Moulin Saint-Martin district, where he touched his first balls, the young 22-year-old footballer who made the heyday of US Ham then ofAS du Pays-Nesloisat the regional level, joined the ranks of theSaint-Quentin OlympicNationale 3 training.
The striker, who spent his childhood in the East of the Somme, is happy to take a new step in his career: “Following my good performances with Nesle, contact was established with David D’ascenzo, the Saint-Quentin coach who arrived this winter, and the discussions were successful. Going to this club is a great springboard for the rest of my career.
He adds : “The coach told me that I had to seize the chance I was given. I know that the competition will be stronger but I am ready to take on the challenge and I intend to show what I am capable of at a higher level…“.
A successful season in Nesle in tribute to “Gayette”
Cousin of Romain Bridoux, known as Gayette, another Neslo footballer, died tragically in a road accident, Kaya Cochet had a few touches last summer, but he decided to stay at the club to play together. The accident that occurred on July 7, 2023 will not allow this. “Romain asked me to stay an extra season so that I could confirm my first season in Nesle. So we signed in Nesle and a week later, there was an accident. So I played in his memory throughout the season…“.
Football, a passion since childhood
Also followed by other regional teams, such as Chauny, Roye-Noyon and Itancourt, the athlete knows that he will have to prove himself: “Saint-Quentin plays at a semi-professional level, I already have to manage to find a place in the team, play regularly, and behind it, continue to score goals to help the club go as high as possible...”.
The football enthusiast is gradually climbing the regional ranks: “I started playing football in Ham at the age of 5 and continued my training there until I was 19. Then, I spent two seasons at Nesle. It’s been two seasons since I finished top scorer in the group.”
A new milestone to cross
Left-handed, the striker is also a versatile player, who can play across the entire attacking front. He also showed it during the 2023/2024 season, scoring a total of 29 goals: “I am someone who likes percussion, speed. I try to provide solutions with my technical qualities.”
After a few days of vacation, Kaya Cochet must resume collective training in mid-July, the first matches are scheduled for the end of August.
