The two suspects who were arrested on Thursday in connection with the disappearance of a Belgian couple in Tenerife were presented to an investigating judge on Thursday. He served them with a European arrest warrant issued by the Spanish courts and placed them in detention, the federal prosecutor’s office said on Friday.

PA’s lawyer, a 44-year-old restaurateur, Me Eddy Cochez has already made it known that he would contest the handover of his client to Spain, the latter firmly denying being involved in this matter. “The European arrest warrant issued by Spain is only one page, we don’t have enough information,” he says.

“Immo-mafia”

“They knew each other, yes, but they were not intimate,” Me Cochez explains to us. The lawyer evokes a Lebanese and English “real estate mafia” which would push owners in Tenerife to sell their property at a low price, with great pressure and threats. “It would rather be on the side that we would have to dig. My client is 44 years old, with no criminal record, he does not have the profile to commit this type of act,” he continues.

“He himself would have had his restaurant in Tenerife robbed,” adds the black toga.

The couple, Laura Trappeniers (66) and Marc Oblrechts (71), had been living in Tenerife for several years and were reported missing at the end of April. The two were last seen on April 22, two days before the wanted poster. On April 27, the woman’s badly mutilated body was found in the Atlantic Ocean. There is still no trace of her husband.

According to our colleagues from Nieuwsblad, a car which could belong to the suspect PA, was seen in front of the Belgian couple’s home while one or two people loaded it with two large bags. The other element would be the fact that PA was seen cleaning his terrace the day after the events. Finally, father and son left Tenerife the day before the chance discovery of Laura Trappeniers’ body.
