The bakery, based on a popular concept in the United States, opened on June 1 in the 16th arrondissement, and offers various services in addition to pastries for dogs.

A concept straight from the United States. The first “dog bakery”, a bakery for dogs, opened its doors in the 16th arrondissement of Paris on June 1st. The establishment, called Case del Doggo, offers pastries for both dogs and humans.

Although the concept is currently emerging in France, it is much more widespread across the Atlantic, where the bakery owner drew her inspiration.

“I wanted to open Casa del Doggo when I had Ulk,” Clara Zambuto, owner of the bakery, whose spitz, Ulk, has become the mascot, explained to BFM Paris Île-de-France. “I left for the United States right after, and it’s a concept that’s very popular, especially in New York and California. And I told myself that it was really something that was missing in the Parisian environment.”

“Good and healthy” recipes for dogs

Divided into several areas, Casa del Doggo offers a main “dog bakery” area, with treats for dogs: waffles stuffed with meat, cupcakes with red fruits, and even a “Doggoccino”: the canine equivalent of a cappuccino, with lactose-free whipped cream and a topping of your choice.

All the pastries offered have been developed with the help of a veterinarian, with the well-being and nutrition of the animal in mind.

“We wanted these to be things that were easy to eat, that were good and healthy for dogs. So we spent a lot of time developing the recipes with a veterinarian, and we tried to make something healthy and cute.”

The property also offers other services. “We also have a café area, we have a shop where you can find everything you need for your doggos, and a self-service dog wash,” explains Clara Zambuto.

A space for owners too

Dog owners can also find what they are looking for at Case del Doggo: the bakery also offers pastries for humans. “We haven’t forgotten you,” Clara assures us.

And the concept seems to appeal: Irina comes there every week with her dog, Akira. “We’re so happy (…) We’re having a little coffee, and a waffle for Akira.”

Clémence comes to take advantage of the café area to work while her dog plays. “I can come to work, do my personal and professional projects, at the same time Koda is having a blast.”

In terms of price, count between two and five euros for dog pastries, and four euros for the signature Doggoccino. Casa del Doggo is open Wednesday to Friday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
