Olympic flame in Roanne: Yves Nicolin and Quentin Guillermin
For a little over an hour, the Olympic Torch Relay of the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games will take to the streets of Roanne on Saturday June 22 from 9 a.m. Twenty-four porters will take turns over 4.4 km starting from the 3×3 basketball courts of the Malleval stadium, passing through the Faubourg Mulsant, the Place des Promenades, the Old Center, the Halles and Bords de Loire 2. Visibility for adapted sport
Alongside the event, the municipality has planned several events to accompany the relay. Initially, around twenty people with Down syndrome will symbolically share the Olympic Flame, a strong gesture in partnership with the French adapted sports federation even though this public is not among the participants in the Paralympic Games. The stage of the music festival, relocated near the port of Roanne due to work on Place de l’Hôtel de Ville, will welcome children from primary schools who will sing the anthem of the Paris 2024 Games, while a giant flash mob will also be organized with the help of all the Roanne residents who respond to the call.
Parking and traffic disrupted
Parking will be prohibited from midnight the day before and the route will be closed to traffic for the duration of the passage of the Olympic Flame through Roanne.
