the essential
Like every year, the bastide will come alive on the evening of June 21 for the now classic music festival. A brief overview of the Villeneuve festivities.

Friday evening, the weather “should be fine. We are all confident.” This is the response of all the organizers, town hall and restaurateurs, who are counting heavily on these festivities to launch the summer season in earnest. Several types of organizations on the program, but something to satisfy everyone.

For its part, the municipality has invested the center of the bastide with several stages installed and numerous groups on the program; rue de Paris, the square in front of Sainte-Catherine church and the unmissable Place Lafayette. From 7 p.m., the New Big Little Band from the Béla Bartok Conservatory will take the stage at Place Lafayette. Created at the start of the 2022 school year, this brand new Big Band offers practice around swing and jazz-rock within the Béla Bartok conservatory. This little band invites the public to come and discover their work and a real moment of music and celebration on the occasion of this first day of summer.

From 8 p.m., “Les Brigadiers” will liven up rue de Paris. Brice, Sébastien, Thomas and Nicolas have been setting fire to local festivals and festivals in Lot-et-Garonne since 2004. Originally from Villeneuve-sur-Lot, they are always there to bring a crazy atmosphere. Musical entertainment will be offered from 8:30 p.m. on the stage in front of the church with local amateur musicians. And the big concert at Place Lafayette will start between 8:30 p.m. and 9 p.m. on Place Lafayette with Les Années Boum in “À plein tubes”. The troupe is supported by talented professional singers, dancers and actors. With shows renewed every two years, hundreds of costumes and a giant screen, Les Années Boum continue to seduce and surprise the stages of France, becoming a true reference for successful shows.

The participation of restaurateurs from both banks

The left bank is not forgotten with the initiative of the restaurant “Le Terminus” (facing the old station) which, like every year, takes over the square for this first big evening of the year. This year, local Pascal Chatel was chosen to host an evening of food and music, starting at 8:30 p.m.

Boulevard Georges-Leygues, showcase of the entrance to the bastide and gourmet location par excellence with its numerous restaurants. Lori Bess Trio was invited by “Le Glacier” and “La Table du 7” to come and liven up the boulevard with its original songs in a pop-folk style.

Let us also be convinced that many amateurs will grab their instruments to improvise, for an evening, as a street singer and also participate in the music festival.
