The 29-year-old midfielder arrives from Le Mans.
Free of any contract at Le Mans FC, Hugo Vargas-Rios has chosen to continue his career at DFCO. This versatile 29-year-old player will sign a 2-year contract, subject to a conclusive medical examination.
Hugo Vargas-Rios is the second recruit of the DFCO! Coming off three full seasons of National at Le Mans (86 matches, 4 goals and 12 assists) where he inherited the captain’s armband several times, Hugo Vargas-Rios comes to strengthen the Dijon midfield. Capable of playing on the entire left wing, the native of Chambray-lès-Tours will indeed play in the position of relay midfield at DFCO.
In Dijon, he will be reunited with Baptiste Ridira, his former coach at Saint-Pryvé-Saint-Hilaire FC (55 N2 matches): “Hugo is a player of duty, hard-working, with a combative and dedicated spirit for the team,” describes the Dijon coach. “He has the grit of a South American player! He can bring danger with his left foot, on his crosses and on set pieces.”
Son of a former Argentinian striker, Raúl Vargas-Ríos – who notably played for Newell’s Old Boys and Tours FC in the 80s – Hugo likes to contribute offensively: “I like to project myself, to go forward. My father tells me to hit the goal even more. Since I was little, I’ve been taking set pieces. I like that.”
Trained at Tours FC, the new Dijon recruit successively defended the jerseys of FC Chartres, Saint-Pryvé-Saint-Hilaire, GOAL FC, Stade Briochin and Le Mans. He arrives in Côte-d’Or with a lot of ambition: “The DFCO is an ambitious club, which wants to return to the high level. I like it because I am a competitor. »
Hugo Vargas-Rios will wear jersey number 20!
