no World Cup for the U17 women!

no World Cup for the U17 women!

Morocco will not go to the 2024 U17 Women’s World Cup in the Dominican Republic. A huge disappointment for the Lionesses of the Atlas…

After the setback in the first leg against Zambia (3-1) on Saturday June 8 at the National Heroes Stadium in Lusaka during the last qualifying round, the Moroccans had to turn things around at all costs this Saturday June 15 at the Berkane municipal stadium , during the return leg. But Youness Rabie’s troops proved powerless (0-0).

The level of play displayed was too low to hope to endanger this Zambian team, which managed to remain compact and well in place throughout the match. And as proof: no clear opportunity can be credited to the Lionesses, despite the numerous changes made by the Moroccan coach to try to create danger offensively.

The story repeats itself…

There Zambia confirms its status as the bane of Moroccan women. In fact, the Copper Queens had already been the executioner of the women’s A in March in the last qualifying round before the Paris Olympic Games. It will therefore be Nigeria, Zambia and probably Kenya who will represent Africa in the Dominican Republic, from October 16 to November 3. After its 3-0 first leg success against Burundi, the Kenyan team has a good option for qualification before returning this Sunday at home to Nairobi.
