Before adding: “The Chinese government always urges Chinese nationals and businesses in Senegal to strictly observe Senegalese laws and regulations, respect local culture and customs, live in friendship and harmony with the local population, and firmly opposes acts of violence against any person, in all circumstances and in any manner whatsoever.

However, the document underlines, “we note that a necessary investigation is underway, in order to reestablish the truth and the entirety of the incident. We also note that some online commenters have made irresponsible remarks. It is imperative for us to invite the public and the media to remain vigilant against any attempts to take things out of context and exploit this affair to fuel hostility between communities and tarnish the image of Sino-African and Chinese friendships. -Senegalese”.
The spokesperson for the Chinese embassy in Dakar also recalled that “the fruitful Sino-Senegalese friendly cooperation has stood the test of time and international hazards, and has contributed considerably to the well-being of our populations. It is the current of history and the common aspiration of our peoples that no force can ever shake or prevent.
