The United Nations (UN) chose in 1999 to proclaim November 25 as the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women. It is in this context that the front of the Town Hall of Tours (Indre-et-) was illuminated in purple at nightfall.

What measures are in place in Indre-et-Loire?

On the scale of Indre-et-Loire, the departmental protocol for preventing and combating violence against women brings together the commitments of more than sixty partners on this cause and contributes to better coordinating the different responses to violence against women in the department.

128 municipal police officers of the City of Tours were trained in order to be able to better support victims of violence.

An emergency kit is available for victims who are forced to leave their homes without the possibility of taking basic necessities with them.

The territory’s social landlords (Tours Habitat, Ligéris, Val Touraine Habitat and Touraine Logement) are signatories of the departmental protocol for the prevention and fight against violence against women.

As part of this protocol, Ligéris has, since 2021, rehoused 10 women and benefited from 5 days of training on violence against women and intra-family violence in order to better detect and support victims to quickly rehouse them or orient. Tours Habitat, a signatory since 2007, has been able to rehouse nearly 1,000 people from Tours.
