Every year, departmental 7 between Offemont and Éloie records its share of spectacular accidents. Users sometimes realize this simply by the presence of a wreck in the ditch. Other times the firefighters, police or gendarmerie intervene. This is the case on 1is November around 7:45 p.m. A car arriving at the intersection with access to Fort du Rudolphe rolled over and fell back on its wheels.
Four young passengers
The vehicle then hit a tree, before bursting into flames. However, this exit from the road did not cause any casualties. The driver, aged 18, and the front passenger, aged 19, got out on their own. This is also the case for the two passengers aged 15 and 16 who were in the back. When the town's firefighters and police arrived, the teenagers hid in the forest. They finally came out. Shocked, they were taken to Trévenans hospital for examinations.
Four accidents in a few months
This accident once again reminds us that users tend to drive fast on a winding secondary road and use it as a rally track. Which can have dramatic consequences in the fall with the fall of dead leaves, ice in winter or even precipitation. Cyclists have been mowed down in the past. Cars crashed into trees or motorcyclists slipped. Between 2023 and the first ten months of this year, the RD 7 has experienced four accidents, three on Éloie and one in Offemont. The figure was comparable in 2022, with no serious injuries or casualties.
