Police found the 32-year-old man injured, but dead at the scene.

The man killed in a stabbing in Vancouver’s Chinatown has been identified by police as a local chef.
Police say Wataru Kakiuchi was found injured near Union and Main streets shortly before 3:30 a.m. Wednesday.
He died before he could be transported to hospital.
The 32-year-old worked at the Hapa Izakaya Japanese restaurant in Yaletown.
Mayor Ken Sim said police had increased their presence in Chinatown. He described this murder assenseless act of violence
and said Mr. Kakiuchi was much more than a talented chef.

Police are asking witnesses who were near Main and Union streets between midnight and 3:30 a.m. Wednesday to contact them.

Police say they have not yet made any arrests in the case, nor have they determined a motive for the attack.
