Tax returns, increase in the benchmark price of gas, ban on the sale of CBD, end of nameless routes… An update on the changes which come into force this June.

A number of changes are taking place during the month of June. We take a look at these events which will affect the daily lives of the French.

• Final stretch to declare your income

The income declaration schedule is set by zone. For the first two (departments 01 to 19 and 20 to 54), the deadlines were respectively May 23 and 30, 2024. Taxpayers in the 3rd zone (departments 55 to 974/976) benefit from a one-day deadline. little longer. They have until June 6 to file their tax return online.

• Increase in gas prices

The Energy Regulatory Commission (CRE) announced that on June 1, 2024, “the variable part including tax increases compared to the month of May by two euros/MWh for typical cooking/hot water and heating consumers.

The CRE calculates an annual average price per MWh consumed, including the fixed and variable portions applied to cooking/hot water and heating consumers, based on data provided by GRDF.

Between May and June, the average benchmark price excluding tax increased by 2.3%, from 75.96 euros/MWh to 77.62 euros/MWh. The average benchmark price including tax increased by 1.8% between May and June 2024, going from 111.19 euros/MWh to 113.19 euros/MWh.

• 1.8 million French people must change their address

Change address without having to move. This is what 1.8 million French people must have done from June 1, 2024. Under the 3DS law adopted in 2022, all French municipalities, including those with less than 2,000 inhabitants which were exempt from this obligation, will have to name all of their streets, alleys and dead ends. To date, nationally, there are 200,000 unnamed roads.

• Cannabis derivatives prohibited

On May 24, new compounds derived from cannabis were included on the list of narcotics by the National Medicines Safety Agency (ANSM). Due to their “risks” to health, they will therefore be banned from June 3.

The molecules concerned are the semisynthetic cannabinoids H4-CBD and H2-CBD, resulting from the transformation of the plant’s natural substances by a chemical process, and purely synthetic cannabinoids.

Sold in particular on the internet and in CBD stores, these products come in the form of oil, resin, herb, spray, candies or chewing gums, liquids for electronic cigarettes.

Between June 17 and 28, 2024, companies, administrations or associations will have to welcome second year general and technological students for their observation internship. This initiative aims to enable high school students “to deepen their knowledge of careers and to receive support in preparing their career choices”.

This two-week course concerns the 560,000 general and technological secondary school students enrolled in public schools under the Ministry of National Education and the Ministry of Agriculture as well as in private educational establishments under contract.

• Admission on Parcoursup

From May 30, 2024, higher education establishments must have submitted their admission offers on Parcoursup. 945,500 candidates expressed their wishes on the platform. Those who have not received any admission offer will be able, from June 11, to express new wishes in courses that still have places available.

• Simplification of medical procedures

A number of medical procedures are simplified to free up doctors’ time. Pharmacists will be able to issue prescriptions for antibiotics for the treatment of tonsillitis and cystitis. Opticians will be able to adjust the glasses’ correction if it does not correspond at the time of the test.
