The Blue Flag label from the Teragir association highlights municipalities and marinas which pursue a policy of sustainable tourism development. In 2024, 505 sites will obtain the label. The winners are announced on May 23, 2024 during a ceremony in Pornichet (Loire-Atlantique). Here are the beaches concerned in Brittany?

31 beaches in Brittany

The first international sustainable tourism label for beaches and marinas announces its 2024 winners. “In order to reduce the impact of tourism on aquatic environments and the environment, the program has been working for nearly 40 years to improve practices in the sector,” says Ghislain Fenouil, head of the Blue Flag program in France.

In 2023, 33 beaches and 5 ports were labeled in Brittany Here are the 31 labeled beaches in Brittany in 2024:

In the Morbihan (9):

  • Carnac: Saint-Colomban, Grande Plage
  • Erdeven: Kerouriec, Kerhillio
  • Guidel: La Falaise, Le Loc’h, Pen er Malo
  • Plouhinec: Kervegant, Le Magouero

In Ille-et-Vilaine (3):

  • Iffendic: Lake Trémelin
  • Saint-Briac-sur-Mer: La Salinette, Port Hue

In the Finistère (19):

  • Audierne: Trescadec Beach, Trez Goarem Beach
  • Bénodet: Trez Beach
  • Clohars-Carnoët: Bellangenet, Kerrou
  • Fouesnant-les Glénan: Kerler, Maner Coat Clevarec, Kerambigorn, Cap-Coz, Glénan Saint-Nicolas
  • Le Conquet: Blancs Sablons, Portez, Pors Liogan
  • Plouarzel: Porsman
  • Plouhinec: Gwendrez, Mesperleuc
  • Pouldreuzic: Penhors
  • Roscoff: Saint-Luc ((Roc’h-Kroum)
  • Saint-Pol-de-Léon: Sainte-Anne

Kerfany beach in Moëlan-sur-Mer and Grands-Sables in Clohars-Carnoët lost the Blue Flag in 2024.

Moreover, four Breton ports are labeled :

  • Paimpol marina
  • Saint-Quay Port d’Armor
  • Port Launay
  • Saint-Martin-Sur-Oust River Stop

The Costa Rican port of Binic-Étables-sur-Mer will no longer be Blue Flag in 2024.

Fifth region of France

The regions with the most Blue Flag beaches are Occitania and the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur which include 246 sites, which represents half of the total number of labeled beaches and ports in France (49%). In 3rd place, Nouvelle-Aquitaine has 58 labeled sites: 55 beaches, 2 ports and 1 boat.

There Brittany is fifth (behind Pays de la Loire) with 31 beaches and 4 ports.
