Return of storms, drop in temperatures… What will the weather be like this weekend?

The weather will turn stormy from this Thursday, June 6, 2024 in part of France. For this Thursday, Météo France has already placed 31 departments on yellow alert for the risk of thunderstorms and 4 others on yellow for the risk of flooding.

Hail and flooding are to be feared, mainly in the south of the country. The areas most exposed to storms are located between northern Aquitaine, the Massif Central, the Jura and the Alps.

Again Friday with sunshine over the northern half and cloudier skies in the south with, again, a risk of strong thunderstorms in the center-east. Thunderstorms will still break out in the center-east.

In the north, the sun; to the south, storms

In the north, the sun. To the south, storms. This is the summary of a weekend which promises to be mixed. On Saturday, thundery showers will circulate from the southwest to the eastern borders under gray skies with temperatures reaching 30°C.

The severity of these storms will need to be monitored “ as well as the cumulative precipitation that they will bring”, notes Météo France in its forecasts. Near the Mediterranean, the sea wind will bring low clouds. It will be heavy in Occitania and the Alps.

Over a large north-west third, clearings will be the majority but it may be necessary to bring a little warm weather: temperatures will remain cool, for example around 15°C on the banks of the Channel.

Temperatures will drop on Sunday

On Sunday, the weather will remain disturbed and stormy from the South-West to the eastern borders. The Alps as well as the Massif Central could be affected by large storms in the afternoon and evening just like Corsica.

For its part, the north-western third will benefit from fine and cool weather, especially along the Channel and the North Sea. Temperatures will drop across the country. We should only reach 16 to 24°C from north to south.
