the LFI initiative takes a new step this Wednesday

The procedure for the dismissal of Emmanuel Macron must be studied this Wednesday, October 2 by the Law Commission of the National Assembly. A new important step for the initiative led by La insoumise.

The day after the start of the parliamentary term, the Law Committee of the National Assembly examines, this Wednesday, from 10 a.m., the procedure for the dismissal of Emmanuel Macron, made possible by article 68 of the Constitution, tabled last September by La France insoumise and some environmentalist deputies.

“This is the first political response to the general policy speech,” explained rebellious MP Antoine Léaument during a press conference. Emmanuel Macron decided to steal two months from the political force that came out on top in July,” he said.

Tiny chances of success

Concretely, this Wednesday, the Law Committee must conclude “on the adoption or rejection of the text”. However, the procedure has little chance of succeeding due to the lack of a majority of the New Popular Front in this Commission.

However, if it managed to be voted on, the procedure would then have to be included within thirteen days on the agenda of the National Assembly.

Beyond the political and parliamentary aspect, La France insoumise called on the French to express themselves on this subject by launching a petition on August 31.

Jean-Luc Mélenchon’s movement denounces “an unprecedented authoritarian drift in the world of parliamentary regimes and in the system of representative democracy.” To date, the petition has been signed by 350,000 people.
