a visiting commercial commission

Arousing the desires of investors from around the world, Morocco is now a strategic crossroads for global firms. Turkish shoe manufacturing companies plan to organize a trade mission to Casablanca, from November 26 to 29, 2024, under the aegis of the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce. This initiative aims to forge new links with Moroccan businessmen.

According to Turkish media, the main objective of this visit is to strengthen the share of Turkish exports in the Moroccan market and to develop commercial relations. Bilateral meetings will be scheduled between Turkish companies and Moroccan importers.

Businessmen from the two countries will come together to explore cooperation opportunities in the footwear industry, with Turkey seeking to increase its exports to Morocco.

Morocco is one of Turkey’s main trading partners in North Africa, with trade volume reaching $4.4 billion last year. Turkey’s main export products include iron, steel, vehicles, textiles and machinery.

In return, Turkey imports automobile parts, fertilizers, animal feed, sugar and salt from Morocco. In 2023, Turkey welcomed 262,124 Moroccan visitors, illustrating the depth of their relations.

The Moroccan footwear market has experienced notable growth, currently valued at around $2.5 billion, with forecasts to increase by 5% per year until 2025. The Moroccan metropolis plays a crucial role in this development, welcoming numerous trade fairs which bring together local and international companies.

Sports and women’s shoes are the best-selling, reflecting a shift in preferences towards modern and comfortable products. Around 60% of the market is dominated by foreign brands, and Morocco imports almost 30% of its shoes, highlighting the need to support the local industry to reduce dependence on imports.

With growing awareness of the importance of local products, demand for locally made shoes is expected to grow, as Moroccan companies aim to improve quality and innovate their designs.
