A tribute in songs and images
For 90 minutes, this show retraces the story of the greatest exodus in modern history: that of the Italians. Between 1876 and 1976, more than 27 million of them left their countries to seek a better life across the world.
The show explores the reasons for exile: poverty, hope for a better future. The perilous journey: marked by hope but often by tragedies at sea. Arrival in the host lands: putting down roots, but also the rejection and racism that the emigrants had to face.
With a sober staging but rich in emotions, archive images and videos bear witness to the struggles and hopes of Italian emigrants.
Made up of 51 enthusiasts, the Gruppo Incanto de Toulouse uses all its talent to recreate this key period in Italian history. On stage, 30 musicians, singers and actors offer a performance imbued with sensitivity and respect.
