The weather conditions have made traffic difficult since the early hours of the morning almost everywhere in Moselle Est, particularly near the Saint-Avold toll, where a truck found itself in an awkward position shortly before the toll in the direction Strasbourg- Metz, causing traffic jams upstream. Between 4:30 a.m. and 5 a.m., a truck found itself jackknifed shortly before the motorway tollbooth between Freyming-Merlebach and Saint-Avold, carrying around a hundred meters of central barrier in its path.
In the process, two other heavy goods vehicles were injured, as well as two other vehicles, fortunately only causing material damage and there were no injuries.
10 km of traffic jams
On the other hand, traffic remained very difficult shortly after 9 a.m. with nearly 10 km of traffic jams reported in the Forbach-Metz direction and no less than 3 to 4 km of traffic jams in the opposite direction Metz-Strasbourg. Due to the cold and the ice, in many places, the greatest caution is recommended, especially on hills, such as from Saint-Avold station, but also the areas of Faulquemont, Lixing-lès-Saint-Avold, Bambiderstroff and the town center of Saint-Avold, on the roads leading to the Poncelet high school and the Wenheck-La Carrière district. Extreme caution is also recommended for pedestrians throughout the area.
