In the last episode of Seven to EightHarry Roselmack told the story of Anne, a 53-year-old woman, victim of a scammer (scammer behind a computer, editor's note) pretending to be Brad Pitt.
Newly arrived on social networks, the fifty-year-old unfortunately did not perceive the false profiles and manipulated messages which were hidden behind the images and videos sent by the scammer.
An 830,000 euro scam
Convinced that she was really interacting with the American actor, the latter was gradually manipulated, until losing 830,000 eurosa record amount in this type of scam.
“He sent me photos and when I did research, I didn't see those photos. So, I said to myself: 'these are photos that he took himself for me'. It's crazy, huh?“, she confided in the report before adding: “I loved the man I was talking to. He knew how to talk to women.“
Over time, her virtual relationship with this fake Brad Pitt transformed into a romance, while she, a millionaire's wife in search of companionship, allowed herself to be seduced by the exchanges. “I had someone in front of me who was interested in me and my work because my own husband wasn't even interested in my work (…) It's like I lived alone“, she explained.
TF1 deletes the report
While Anne hoped to share her experience to warn other victims, her testimony did not have the desired effect. Since the broadcast of the report on TF1, she has in fact victim of harassment.
Faced with the scale of the negative reactions, the channel also made the decision to delete the report. For good reason… many Internet users reacted strongly to the interior designer's story.
Karine Le Marchand mocking on social networks
Even Karine Le Marchand used her own social networks to make fun of the situation.
