Black ice formed in several sectors of the Tarn-et-Garonne department this Wednesday, January 15, 2025, while the thermometer fell further locally to – 7°C. An industrial snow phenomenon even affected the Sapiac district of Montauban, covered in a white film. Be careful if you get behind the wheel.
Bad surprise for users of the Tarn-et-Garonne road going to work or driving their children to school: traffic conditions are complicated in certain sectors of the department this Wednesday January 15, 2025. The fault is fog sometimes thick icing which has enveloped the Tarn and Garonne valleys since the end of the night.
Patches of ice formed on bridges (Trescassès in Castelsarrasin, Pont de l'Avenir in Montauban, Malause), on shady sites (for example the RD 928 before the Bourret bridge or on the Larrazet coast on the same road linking Montauban to Beaumont-de-Lomagne) and in the valley floors. Preventive salting was carried out by agents of the departmental council's roads service. “We intervened more in the sectors of Montauban, Castelsarrasin and Valence than in the east of the department,” indicates Eric Bénech, head of the CD 82 roads department.
On the Montauban ring road, the Vinci Autoroutes teams took action.
In Montauban, an unusual weather phenomenon occurred: industrial snow covered the streets, sidewalks, gardens and roofs of the Sapiac and Pouty districts. A thin white film which encouraged motorists to seriously slow down.
