Eurovision 2025 is set to ignite the city of Basel from May 13-17, and fans are now in the final stretch to secure tickets. Pre-registration, mandatory this year, will close on January 10.
For the first time, pre-registration is imposed, a measure aimed at countering automated resale software which monopolizes tickets to resell them at high prices. “There was a very big rush at the launch of the pre-recordings. Now we are reaching the home stretch,” explains Moritz Stadler, co-executive producer of Eurovision, in La Matinale de la RTS.
Once the pre-registration period on Ticketcorner closes, the teams will clean the databases to eliminate known bots and resellers. The official sale will begin at the end of January, on a first-come, first-served basis. Ticket prices will vary between 40 and 350 francs.
A visual and sound identity inspired by the Swiss Alps
The visual for this 2025 edition, recently unveiled, highlights the concept “Unity Shapes Love”, signed Artur Deyneuve, artistic director of the competition. This project, which celebrates diversity and European cohesion, draws its inspiration from the Swiss mountains and the country’s linguistic richness.
On the sound side, the organizers promise an immersive experience mixing modernity and local traditions: yodeling songs and the percussion of Basel drums will enrich a scenography deemed “revolutionary”.
For five days, the Halle Saint-Jacques will be the scene of nine shows, including two semi-finals, a grand final and six additional shows. For those who are unable to obtain tickets, free events are planned: a public viewing at Parc Saint-Jacques, a Eurovision village and festivities throughout the city.
The Swiss transport network is also preparing to welcome thousands of spectators: the SBB is offering discounted tickets and 85 special trains will be deployed during the week to facilitate access to the event.
Eurovision 2025 can also count on the support of four major Swiss sponsors: Novartis, Basel Cantonal Bank, Helvetia and Swisscom. These partners join the international sponsors and will contribute to the influence of this event.
Mystery guests and featured presenters
As for the guests, the organizers maintain the mystery. Rumors suggest the presence of Céline Dion, former winner of the competition for Switzerland in 1988, as well as Roger Federer, the famous tennis player. “We approached a lot of people and we have a lot of answers. But Eurovision is above all a surprise,” confides Moritz Stadler with a smile.
The Swiss artist Nemo, who announced the release of an album for 2025 without revealing more, could unveil a first extract during Eurovision in Basel, where he should perform, as tradition dictates.
As for the presenters, although the official list has not yet been revealed, several names are already circulating: Sandra Simó, former representative of Switzerland at Eurovision in 1991 and presenter, the actress Melanie Winiger, the comedian and slammer Hazel Brugger, or even Christa Rigozzi, former Miss Switzerland and TV host.
Jean-Marc Richard, historic figure in commentary for RTS, has confirmed that he will devote himself solely to his role as commentator this year again.
An economic boon for the city of Basel
Eurovision 2025 represents a real economic boon for Basel, which expects more than 100,000 spectators. The economic benefits of the event are estimated at 50 million francs.
The President of the Basel government, Conradin Cramer, is confident: “Basel will perfectly play its role as a ‘party city’”, he underlines. This popular support for the event is reinforced by the city’s funding, approved by a popular vote last November to the tune of 37.5 million francs.
